Percentage to GPA Converter
Enter a percentage to see its value on the 4.0 scale. The bands come from the OUAC Undergraduate Grade Conversion Table, which Ontario medical and law school applications use for university marks.
How to use it
- Enter your percentage mark.
- Pick the scale your university uses. Scale 3 is the default.
- Read the 4.0 value and the band your mark falls in.
How it is worked out
On OUAC Scale 3: 90-100% is 4.0, 85-89% is 3.9, 80-84% is 3.7, 77-79% is 3.3, 73-76% is 3.0, 70-72% is 2.7, 67-69% is 2.3, 63-66% is 2.0, 60-62% is 1.7, 57-59% is 1.3, 53-56% is 1.0, 50-52% is 0.7 and 49% or below is 0.
OUAC lists four percentage scales, and which one applies depends on the university that issued the marks. The table is built for university transcripts, so a high school percentage converted here is only an approximation.
Common questions
Do Canadian universities use GPA for high school applicants?
Mostly no. Canadian universities admit high school students on percentage averages, such as the Ontario top six. GPA on the 4.0 scale matters later, for medical school, law school, graduate school and some scholarships.
Is there one official Canadian GPA scale?
No. Each university has its own grading scale. OUAC converts them to one 4.0 scale for Ontario medical and law school applications, and that table is what this converter uses.
Can I average my GPA from my overall percentage?
Not exactly. OUAC converts each course mark to its 4.0 value first and then averages those values, weighted by course length. Converting your overall percentage gives a rough figure only.
