Peer Tutoring or Academic Support
Help classmates or younger students succeed
Why It Matters
Shows academic mastery and genuine commitment to helping others. Running a formal tutoring program is significantly more impactful than casual help.
How to Start
Talk to your school's student services office about formalising a peer tutoring program. Also consider volunteering with Frontier College, which places student tutors in underserved communities across Canada.
Commitment
- Low commitment: a few hours a month, easy to fit around school.
- Best starting grade: G8
- G8 is a natural start - you have strong enough academic foundations to teach others effectively.
