French Language Proficiency (DELF Exam)
Achieve certified bilingual proficiency in French
Why It Matters
French-English bilingualism opens doors at McGill, uOttawa, and federal scholarship programs. A formal DELF certification is a verifiable credential - much stronger than just listing French as a skill.
How to Start
Register for DELF exams through the Alliance Francaise Canada or your school board's French department. The DELF B2 level is the most impressive for university applications.
Commitment
- Medium commitment: a few hours most weeks during the school year.
- Best starting grade: G7
- Start French immersion or intensive study in G7-G9. Target DELF B1 in G10 and B2 in G11 or G12.
Programs It Supports
- All Programs - especially International Relations, Translation, Education, Law
